The Leicester Buses Partnership is committed to making bus travel accessible.
At bus stops
Raised accessible curbs are provided at all main boarding stops
Text-to-speech facility is provided at all boarding bus stops, which announce the stop name and the service, destination and arrival time of the next 4 bus services arriving at that stop. A button is placed just under the squared-block information drums on the bus stop poles, which users can press for the announcements.
Low Floor access
All buses are low floor easily-accessible, helping to make travel easier for pushchairs, the elderly and disabled and wheelchair users
Raised accessible curbs are provided at all stops
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are able to travel for free on all buses, including guide dogs, hearing-aid dogs and recovery-assistance dogs.
Wheelchair users
All buses have a designated space for wheelchair users. Wheelchair users have priority to use this space over other users.
When the bus arrives, please ask the driver to lower the ramp for you and ask the driver for any further assistance boarding the bus if required.
Reverse your wheelchair into the dedicated wheelchair space (so you are facing the back of the bus) and apply your brakes.
When alighting the bus, please ask the driver for any assistance as required.
Mobility Scooters
Most bus companies follow the CPT code for mobility scooter acceptance on buses. More details of this can be found here. If you wish to apply for a scooter permit, please contact the bus companies directly.
Pushchairs
Our buses have pushchair and buggy-friendly zones in the flip-up seated area of our buses
Please remember to apply your brakes and keep the aisles clear
If a wheelchair user boards the bus, they have priority over the wheelchair space and you may be asked to move or fold your pushchair away.
