Hop! Update:
Since 3rd April, when Hop was launched, passenger numbers have been steadily rising.
More than 100,000 trips have been made within the first 5 months of operation, with a day record in month 6 of 2,078
The stops close to the bus and rail stations are the most popular, indicating that many are using Hop to interchange from other public transport services.
We’ll continue to monitor usage and evaluate feedback over the course of the 18-month trial.
The service is being operated as part of an 18-month trial, which allows us to change things that may not be working or develop the route further as we go along.
The service is operated by three fully electric midi-buses, which have double doors in the middle to allow for quicker access. The bus has 21 seats plus a dedicated wheelchair space on board. Wheelchair and pushchair users will need to board and alight the bus via the middle double doors.
The main aim of the trial is to provide accessible, sustainable links from bus and rails stations, and main City Centre bus stops to key destinations across the City Centre such as tourist attractions, the hospital, university and colleges, the Market, shops and theatres.
This service is operated by Centrebus, who can be contacted on 0116 410 50 50 or help@centrebus.co.uk. For feedback on the route/timetable, please contact greenlines@leicester.gov.uk
