Travel Aid for unemployed people - half fare travel on local bus services for Leicester City Residents
What is the Travel Aid scheme?
Travel Aid is a scheme funded by Leicester City Council which allows unemployed residents of Leicester with a Travel Aid bus pass, to travel for half fare on local bus services in Leicester and Leicestershire. The scheme is designed to ease the financial strain of jobseekers whilst they are unemployed, by lowering the cost of bus travel.
How long is the pass valid for?
The pass is valid for a 2 month period (56 days).
Who is eligible?
You must be a resident of Leicester City.
You must be registered unemployed, and receiving Job Seeker's Allowance or Universal Credit as a work seeker.
You must not already have an active older persons or disabled persons concessionary pass.
How do I use my Travel Aid pass?
Your Travel Aid bus pass will consist of a photo ID card and the dates which your pass is valid to use between. The bus pass can only be used by yourself for travel between the dates stated on the pass. Simply present your pass to the driver when you board and the driver will be able to offer you 50% off the price of a standard single or return ticket. You can pay for your ticket using either cash or contactless payment.
How do I apply?
Before applying online, please do ensure you have the following items ready to upload as proof of your identity:
either your: passport, driving licence, birth certificate or proof of residency (document showing your name and address) and;
proof of your entitlement such as your Universal Credit or bank statement.
